I Always Thought There Would Be More Time...  

I always thought we would have more time
To play another game of chess
I always thought we'd have more conversations
About the problems we needed to address.
I always thought we'd have
More time to plan another hike
To take that camping trip
And hang out by the fire.
I always thought we'd have more time
To correct the mistakes of the past
Retrace our steps and start again
A new journey down a familiar path.
I always thought we'd have more time
To help eachother grow
To lend our strengths when the other is weak
Or needed to be consoled.
I always thought there would be time
To write our own awesome song
You kicking ass on the drums
Me strumming my guitar along.
I always thought there would be more time
For you and I to spend
As the pages of our lives
Turn us into old friends.
